Linearly-Filled Hot Rod Derenzo

Innovative Design

"Derenzo" phantoms are used to characterize an imaging system's resolution by measuring the FWHM of hole patterns with varying diameters and spacing. Holes within a size group are spaced at exactly 2D (twice the diameter) apart. Our Derenzo phantoms feature six different hole sizes arranged in triangles around the center of phantom. These phantoms also feature our patented Linear-Filling Technology, which greatly reduces the volume required to fill the phantoms, ensures even filling (no bubbles), and reduces the radiation exposure to the handler of the phantom. Our Derenzo phantoms feature two Luer Lock fittings as the inlet and outlet of the linear fluid path. To fill, simply attach two syringes, one full of activity and the other empty, to the two ports. As you slowly insert the fluid,  you will be able to see the fluid fill each channel of the pattern one rod at a time, ensuring even filling. When fluid reaches the empty syringe, the phantom pattern is full. To empty the phantom, simply reverse the process with air. Our Derenzo phantoms are available in several sizes and configurations, highlighted below!
